Curt Weldon using ties to the Trump administration to push for a presidential commission on WTC destruction and ‘intelligence failures’
It could be the most concrete move towards a new 9/11 investigation in the history of the 9/11 Truth Movement.
Former Pennsylvania Congressman Curt Weldon, who previously had a career in firefighting, is coordinating with AE911Truth and other researchers in the 9/11 Truth Movement to present the incoming Trump administration with a proposal for a presidential commission to re-examine the 9/11 evidence. The connection between Weldon and 9/11 researchers was facilitated by firefighting expert Raul Angulo, who recently had an article published on Building 7 in the International Fire & Safety Journal.
Included in the proposed new investigation would be a detailed examination of the evidence for the controlled demolitions of the three World Trade Center towers destroyed in New York City on September 11, 2001.
Weldon, who served as vice-chair of the Armed Services Committee and the House Homeland Security Committee during his 30 years in Congress, is a guest on the latest installment of AE911Truth’s 9/11 Free Fall podcast. He is joined by AE911Truth chairman Roland Angle and University of Alaska Fairbanks professor Leroy Hulsey, whose 2020 study on WTC Building 7 concluded that for the 47-story building to have fallen as it did on 9/11, all its steel support columns had to have failed at virtually the same instant.
Weldon, who maintains strong connections in Washington, D.C. – including with members of the incoming Trump administration – describes the 9/11 Commission as a “joke” and a “cover-up” and says he wants to help AE911Truth get its evidence heard.
“What I want to do is empower you, because you’re the experts on buildings, to tell the story of what really happened with Building 7, as well as other buildings… the two main tower buildings,” he said.
“I applaud you for your work, and I’m here to say I’m going to help you understand how to tell your story.”
Weldon says he is pursuing this new investigation through the White House rather than through Congress because of his lack of confidence in politicians and bureaucrats to effectively grasp the nuances of the scientific arguments made, and because such an investigation should not be subject to political concerns.
Of particular concern to Weldon is the fate of the 343 firefighters who died at the World Trade Center on September 11. Weldon has been a strong advocate for firefighters throughout his career.
According to his own website:
“Curt Weldon literally grew up involved in fire and disaster operations. As the youngest of 9, Curt and his 6 brothers followed in their father’s footsteps as members of one of two volunteer fire departments in Marcus Hook. Curt eventually rose to the become Fire Chief of the Viscose Fire Department but resigned after only a few short months because he had just been elected Mayor of the community.”
During the interview, he added:
“When I watched the film that was shown to me… and I saw a New York firefighter enter floor 78 of the tower and report back verbally that he saw two fires and could handle them, and five minutes later the building collapses, I said, ‘Wait a minute…this is outrageous! I can’t believe that we haven’t investigated this before now.’”
Over the years, Weldon has been a vocal critic of the government’s handling of pre-9/11 intelligence, in particular Able Danger – a classified military planning effort led by the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). This program identified two of three al-Qaeda cells reported to be active in the September 11 attacks, including alleged 9/11 leader Mohamed Atta and three of the plot's other 19 alleged hijackers.
Weldon asserts that the federal government ignored Able Danger’s intelligence on the supposed 9/11 plotter and that, if acted upon, this information could have prevented 9/11 from ever happening.
“The 9/11 Commission lied!” Weldon shouted during the interview while speaking about the government’s attempt to destroy the career of Lt. Colonel Anthony Schafer, the person who came to Weldon to blow the whistle on Able Danger.
“[Schafer’s] career was ruined because he told the truth about what he knew before 9/11.”
During the interview, Roland Angle emphasized how important this opportunity is to the 9/11 Truth Movement:
“We need to understand that this is a unique and probably one-time only opportunity that we are faced with now. And we have been preparing for this opportunity since 2006…we’ve been putting our story together.”
Addressing Weldon directly, Angle said:
“Congressman, your experience and your passion in this matter is central to what we’ve been looking for all these years.”
In the months ahead, AE911Truth will keep all its supporters, and all members of the Truth Movement, updated on this major new opportunity. – Craig McKee
