Action Alert: Send this to Government Officials
This week is the twentieth anniversary of the start of the Iraq War, and all this month, we ask our supporters to forward this message to any and all U.S. government officials that they can.
Another One of 9/11's Costly Consequences
20 years ago this week, following a contentious period of national debate and protest, President George W. Bush launched the United States into a war in Iraq. While the pundits cheerleading this action on television assured the American public that our soldiers would be welcomed as liberators by the Iraqi people once they entered the country, reality quickly set in.
The weapons of mass destruction that we were told Saddam Hussein possessed were never found, and our soldiers became embroiled in a long conflict that ultimately cost thousands of them their lives. Along with that, countless men and women returned from combat with lost limbs and the horrors of war permanently imprinted on their psyches.
Samar Hassan, 5, screams after her parents were killed by U.S. soldiers with the 25th Infantry Division in a shooting Jan. 18, 2005 in Tal Afar, Iraq. The troops fired on the Hassan family car when it unwittingly approached them during a dusk patrol in the tense northern Iraqi town. Parents Hussein and Camila Hassan were killed instantly, and a son Racan, 11, was seriously wounded in the abdomen. Racan, paralyzed from the waist down, was treated later in the U.S. Photo by Chris Hondros
Not to mention, great losses were suffered by the Iraqi people as well.
It was a costly war, both in dollars and in the collective spirit of America. Many who first supported the effort now say it was a mistake.
While Saddam Hussein’s alleged weapons of mass destruction were the most infamous selling point used by the White House to push the war on the American people, also carefully placed inside the minds of the average citizen was the false assumption that Saddam Hussein was in some way involved in orchestrating the events of 9/11.
Though President Bush eventually admitted when confronted that, in fact, Hussein didn’t have anything to do with 9/11, the 9/11 tragedy was carefully invoked many times by him, members of his administration, and by media hawks while making their case for war.
Sadly, despite the importance that 9/11 has in world history and its impact on the direction of the United States, many problems with the official story of 9/11 remain severely and inadequately addressed by the government entities tasked with giving the American people the answers they deserve.
In particular, the question that sits at the heart of our mission-- how did three steel-framed high-rises completely collapse in mere seconds when all evidence indicates that they shouldn’t have?
For fifteen years, Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth has compiled and presented clear and undeniable evidence that the official reports produced by the National Institute of Standards and Technology on the collapse of World Trade Center towers 1, 2, and 7 are provably false. Our findings show that these towers could not have come down by any other means besides controlled demolition. Yet government officials at all levels continue to stonewall when confronted with our appeals for them to view our evidence and act upon it, denying millions around the world the justice they deserve.
While most people think of the lives lost on September 11th as the only victims of the terrible day, the fact is that 9/11’s impact was much more far-reaching, spanning years and also touching the lives of people like the families of those who were killed in the Middle East, and the disabled veterans for whom war bestowed a permanent consequence.
We urge government officials at all levels to break their silence, recognize the significant forensic evidence that we have uncovered, and begin the process of reconciliation with the people of the United States by acknowledging that the investigation into the destruction of the three buildings that fell on 9/11 is far from over.
Though many mistakes were made by our country at the start of the 21st century, it is never too late to address them and do the work of rectifying them. We ask that you consider our appeal, and make good on our nation’s ideal of truth and justice as we try to build a new future together, united in spirit and no longer divided by fear and silence.
Sincerely,
